Williams Commerce enjoyed a fantastic 2018, with plenty of highlights and things to celebrate.
So, as the new year begins, we’ve taken stock of what happened over the past 12 months and taken the chance to look at what’s on the horizon.
“Williams Commerce continued to grow with our customers in 2018,” says Rob Williams, CEO of Williams Commerce. “At the core of our business is a desire to continually challenge ourselves to improve how we deliver services. Last year saw us deliver more services, projects, support and ongoing development. 2018 also saw a number of new acquisitions, awards won, a major office move and expansion into new geographies. It’s been a great 12 months and we’re excited by what 2019 has in store.”
2018 Highlights
One stand-out from the last 12 months was the launch of our exciting new website.
Designed by our in-house experts, the design places the user experience front and centre. We focused on improving our navigation, site speed and mobile usability in order to provide the best experience for every person who visits the Williams Commerce website.
“Williams Commerce believes in producing websites that generate multi-million pound businesses online,” says Darren Barrett, lead digital designer at Williams Commerce. “We needed a site that showcased Williams Commerce as being at the top of our game. We wanted something that was sleek, sexy, elegant and had fantastic usability.”
Another undoubted highlight in 2018 was our move to an exciting new premises in Leicester City Centre.
With plenty of room for our growing team, these new offices on Mansfield Street are steeped in history and provide a great space for Williams Commerce as we look to advance.
The team moved to the office in the summer of 2018 and work is continuously being carried out across the building to create the perfect working environment.
Great client projects
2018 saw us continue to work closely with a number of fantastic clients to help them meet their online goals.
A standout was our work with The Folio Society, which saw our team complete the development of a stunning new website for this publisher of literature and non-fiction. This website runs on Magento Cloud Commerce 2.2.5 and offers an exceptionally rich user experience.
We also carried out projects with the likes of Hornby, John Smedley Outlet and many more in 2018.
We will be continuing to collaborate with companies across different sectors to help them realise their online potential in 2019. Be sure to visit our portfolio page frequently to see what we’re getting up to.
Acquisitions and partnerships
We’re pleased to say we’re on an upward curve at Williams Commerce. To help keep this going, we added to our business with the acquisition of Tincan in May 2018.
This leading digital experience agency has now been re-branded under Un.titled, and with head of agency Brian Healy at the helm, will help the Williams Commerce Group make forward strides in 2019.
We also acquired Fast Floor Media in September 2018. This bespoke business software company is a welcome addition to the Williams Commerce Group and has helped us enhance our CMS, ecommerce and business system offering.
The last 12 months also saw Williams Commerce partner with Shopware to support Enterprise-Grade customers, as well as launch a new partnership with Yotpo. The Yotpo platform can be integrated with ecommerce websites and used to help create user-generated content.
Award Nominations, Certifications and Events
We were delighted to be recognised for our work in 2018, with the highlight arguably being shortlisted for the Google Premier Partners Awards in the category of search innovation.
This nomination was on the back of our work with Evolution Organics, and saw members of the marketing team head to Dublin to attend the award ceremony and learn more about the direction Google search is heading.
Additionally, Williams Commerce was also shortlisted for the 2018 RAR Awards in four different categories.
We were also awarded the ISO 9001 accreditation and ISO 27001 certification during 2018, helping us add an extra level of assurance and peace of mind around the security of information for the customers we work with.
Members of the Williams Commerce team also attended the 2018 IRX Internet Retailing Expo in Birmingham and the Ecommerce Expo 2018 at London’s Olympia. These events were both fantastic experiences and we’ll be attending plenty more in 2019.
Adding New Team Members
In order to keep the business moving forwards, we are always looking to add to our ranks and bring in team members that can help us reach our goal.
2018 saw many new members of staff join Williams Commerce. Notably, July 2018 saw us appoint Wendy Slater as our new operations director. There were plenty of other positive additions too, and we hope 2019 will be the same.

What’s the plan for 2019?
Front and centre for us in 2019 will be continuing to deliver great ecommerce solutions for our customers. Our expertise across Magento and Magento 2, Shopify Plus, Shopware, WordPress and more have helped businesses achieve their aims in 2018, and our goal remains the same in 2019.
As mentioned, our new office is continuously being enhanced and we will be putting the finishing touches to this great space this year.
We’re also looking to add certifications, attend events and receive award nominations in 2019, and who knows what might be around the corner? Ecommerce and digital marketing are continuously developing industries, and we at Williams Commerce will be sure to keep our fingers on the pulse.
And, somewhat excitingly, 2019 marks the tenth anniversary of our digital marketing agency! We’ll be sure to celebrate in style, so watch this space.
